Share
Riot Games is expanding the League of Legends universe with Riftbound, an official trading card game set to release on October 31, 2025. Developed as a physical collectible TCG, Riftbound brings iconic champions, spells, and battlefields from Runeterra to the tabletop. Whether you're a competitive card game player or a long-time fan of League's lore, this release offers a new way to explore the world of League of Legends.
What Is Riftbound?
Riftbound is a standalone trading card game that blends strategic deckbuilding with familiar elements from League of Legends. Players build decks around champions such as Lux, Jinx, Lee Sin, and others, using cards from two chosen domains to create powerful synergies. Each game centers around control of battlefields, and players earn points by dominating these locations.

The game supports several formats, including:
- One-on-one competitive matches
- Two-versus-two team battles
- Free-for-all multiplayer with up to four players
This variety allows Riftbound to appeal to both casual and competitive communities, with accessible mechanics for beginners and deep tactical options for experienced players.
Riftbound Release Date and Availability
The English edition of Riftbound will launch on October 31, 2025. Preorders begin on August 4, 2025, and the full product lineup will be available online at Game of Bricks.
Product Lineup Available at Game of Bricks
Upon release, Riftbound will include the following products:
Origins: Proving Grounds Starter Box
Includes four starter decks featuring Annie, Master Yi, Lux, and Garen. Ideal for learning the game or playing with up to four players right out of the box.
Champion Decks
Preconstructed decks themed around single champions. Launch decks include:
- Jinx
- Viktor
- Lee Sin
Each deck includes 40 cards focused on that champion’s playstyle and domain mechanics.
Core Gameplay Overview
Riftbound's gameplay revolves around deck construction, resource management, and battlefield control.
- Each deck is built around a Legend card, representing a champion.
- Players select two domains—factions or schools of magic—that determine the card pool for their deck.
- Runes serve as resources. They can be tapped repeatedly for smaller effects or permanently spent to play powerful cards.
- The goal is to earn points by winning control of battlefields. The first player to reach eight points (or eleven in team games) wins the match.
This system emphasizes both tactical combat and long-term resource planning, rewarding skilled deckbuilders and strategic thinkers.
Card Types and Collectibility
The Origins set includes approximately 298 unique cards, with several distinct card types:
- Units: Creatures that battle for control of battlefields
- Spells: One-time effects that influence gameplay
- Gear: Equipment that enhances units
- Champions: Unique cards central to deck identity
- Battlefields: Objectives that determine how points are scored
- Legends: Represent the leader and theme of each deck
In addition, Riftbound introduces:
- Alternate Art Cards: Denoted by an “a” after their collector number
- Overnumbered Cards: Rare collector cards numbered beyond the base set size, offering exclusive artwork or effects
Events and Organized Play
Riot is launching a full-scale organized play system alongside Riftbound to support both casual and competitive players.

- Nexus Nights: Weekly casual events held at game stores for open play and learning the game
