4 Mega Evolution SIR in decline

4 Mega Evolution SIR in decline

Recent sales data shows that Mega Evolution prices have softened notably over the past month, particularly across the top Special Art Rares (SARs) in the Mega Evolution set. With the release now more than two months old, supply appears to be stabilising while demand has cooled, leading to consistent downward movement in raw and graded values.

This report breaks down the latest performance of the four most sought-after SARs and examines what may be influencing their current trajectory.

4. Mega Gardevoir ex - 178/132 - ME01: Mega Evolution (MEG)

One of the flagship cards of the set has seen the sharpest decline as Mega Evolution prices continue to adjust. A month ago, raw copies regularly sold for around £270. Today, typical sales sit closer to £200, with some transactions even dipping into the £180 range.

In PSA 10, the price movement has been equally significant. Recent sales hover around £450, far removed from the early peak where the slab achieved between £1,500 and £1,700. The adjustment suggests a market correction following initial release hype.

3. Mega Lucario ex - 179/132 - ME01: Mega Evolution (MEG)

Mega Lucario has followed a similar pattern. Raw copies have dropped from approximately £280 to around £200.

PSA 10 examples now sell for roughly £430 to £550, depending on auction strength. This marks a substantial fall considering that, at the beginning of October, the card regularly exceeded £2,000 at auction.

2. Mega Latias ex - 181/132 - ME01: Mega Evolution (MEG)

Mega Latias shows a more moderate but still clear decline. Raw prices have shifted from around £170 down to closer to £100.

The PSA 10 market remains more resilient, with recent sales still achieving around £400, although this is notably softer than early post-release expectations as Mega Evolution prices continue to settle.

1. Mega Venusaur ex - 177/132 - ME01: Mega Evolution (MEG)

Mega Venusaur has dropped from raw values of approximately £200 to around £150 within a month.

PSA 10 prices continue to land between £430 and £480, illustrating a steady but discernible downward trend as more graded copies enter the market.

Why Prices Are Falling

A significant contributor to the price decline in Mega Evolution prices appears to be the release of Wave 2 booster boxes, which increases product circulation and puts additional singles into the marketplace. As supply rises, short-term pressure on card values is expected, and further reductions may follow if additional waves or restocks occur.

Collectors and investors should monitor incoming supply closely, as price floors often form only after distribution stabilises.

Conclusion

The top Mega Evolution SARs have undergone notable corrections from their early highs, both in raw and graded conditions. While the artwork and popularity of these cards remain strong, increasing product availability is exerting downward pressure on values. Buyers may find favourable opportunities in the coming weeks, while sellers should remain aware of potential further dips.
