The Decline of 4 Pokemon Card Prices: What Collectors Need to Know

The market for Pokemon cards from the Scarlet and Violet era has recently experienced notable fluctuations, reflecting broader trends in Pokemon card prices. Many high-demand chase cards have dropped significantly in value, prompting collectors to question whether these declines will continue or stabilize in the coming months.

4. Pikachu ex - 238/191 - SV08: Surging Sparks (SSP)

One of the most striking examples of price changes is the Pikachu from the Searching Sparks sub-series, part of the Scarlet & Violet era. This card was once valued around $450, but it has now fallen to the $200–$250 range. The decline appears linked to recent restocks of Searching Sparks Elite Trainer Boxes (ETBs), which were previously selling for $100 and are now available for $70–$80.

Despite this, a PSA 10 Pikachu from Searching Sparks still commands about $900, highlighting that top-grade cards maintain strong value even as raw card prices decrease.

3. Greninja ex - 214/167 - SV06: Twilight Masquerade (TWM)

Another significant drop involves the Greninja ex card from the Twilight Masquerade set. Reflecting recent trends in Pokemon card prices, this card was initially priced near $400 but now averages around $280 on the secondary market. However, PSA 10 graded copies of Greninja ex continue to sell for $800–$860, showing consistent demand for pristine condition cards.

2. Umbreon ex - 161/131 - SV: Prismatic Evolutions (PRE)

The Umbreon from the Prismatic Evolutions series has seen one of the steepest declines, reflecting current trends in Pokemon card prices. Six months ago, this highly coveted card was valued at approximately $1,600 raw. Today, its price has fallen to about $800. The decrease is likely due to the surge in Prismatic set restocks, which have introduced more supply into the market.

Even with this drop, PSA 10 Umbreon remains exceptionally strong, selling for close to $3,000, which is similar to its graded price when raw cards were fetching $1,200.

1. Sylveon ex - 156/131 - SV: Prismatic Evolutions (PRE)

Another noteworthy example from the Prismatic series is Sylveon VMAX. This card, part of the ongoing trend in Pokemon card prices, once commanded over $450 but has now slipped below $300. Despite the fall, PSA 10 Sylveon VMAX still sells for between $750 and $800, again demonstrating the continued resilience of graded cards.

What Collectors Should Expect

With ongoing restocks and fluctuating demand, the trend of falling Pokemon card prices may persist. For collectors, this creates opportunities to acquire raw cards at lower prices, while graded cards—especially PSA 10s—appear to hold their premium value. Those considering buying or selling should monitor both raw and graded markets closely.
